Unique Gotlandic Wood-Fired Sauna Experience for the mind and body

Currently, the sauna boat is available for rent for non-profit purposes at the Flundreviken Marina by Snäck.

  • Heating takes 20-30 minutes and a session lasts 1-3 hours
  • The sauna can accommodate up to 6 persons comfortably
  • Fire extinguisher below the bench on stareboard side
  • Fresh water is in the bucket and can. Only CLEAN TAP WATER on the sauna heater!
  • Firewood can be arranged but bring your own if convenient
  • Matches and fire-starters is located in the gray box
  • Lights can be controlled with the rotary knobs on the aft plate inside.
  • Leave the sauna in a clean and orderly condition
  • Cold bath can be done through the stairs/ladder in the aft
  • Sea water analysis 2025-07-08: QC Passed🌟

The sauna boat was built as an experiment and is the only one of its kind. Materials and methods have been chosen with great care.

  • Hull: Repurposed from a fiberglass dinghy previously used for flounder fishing.
  • Sauna stove: Equipped with a Harvia M3 wood-fired stove and a stainless steel chimney.
  • Ballast: Reinforced concrete on the deck, covered with rubber mats for comfort.
  • Insulated superstructure: Externally clad with natural wood fiberboards, shaped wet and treated with tar and linseed oil. Internally finished with spruce paneling and a lime-plastered ceiling in the bow/heat zone.
  • Swimming platform: Features a stern-mounted platform with a ladder, which also provides lateral stabilization.
  • Electric system: Powered by LiFePO4 batteries charged by solar panels, supplying electricity for lighting.
  • Modular functionality: Can be connected to an electric-powered raft to operate as a combined unit.
